PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake‘s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U has landed over half a dozen certifications from the RIAA.
The joint album, released on Valentine’s Day, is now certified platinum, with over 1 million equivalent units sold in the U.S. It marks PARTY’s first platinum-selling project, while it adds to Drake’s plate of multi-platinum and diamond sellers.
Six tracks from $ome $exy $ongs 4 U have been deemed RIAA gold, with over 500,000 equivalent units sold, including “Somebody Loves Me,” “Die Trying,” “Gimme a Hug,” “Spider-Man Superman,” “Something About You” and “CN Tower.”
Meanwhile, Drake’s solo number “Nokia” has been certified 2x platinum, with sales over 2 million. The viral track, produced by Elkan, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The official music video, directed by Theo Skudra, was shot in IMAX.
$ome $exy $ongs 4 U debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 246,000 equivalent units in its first week. It scored PARTY his first chart-topper and Drake’s 14th. According to Apple Music, the album made history with the most first-day streams for an R&B album.
Drake and PARTY supported their collaborative album over the summer on their $ome $pecial $hows 4 UK EU Tour.
In October, PARTYNEXTDOOR released his $$$ short film inspired by the album. The 10-minute clip, directed by Kid Art, featured music videos for “Somebody Loves Me,” “OMW” and “When He’s Gone.”
$ome $exy $ongs 4 U is the follow-up to PARTY’s PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4), which was among Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2024 list. As for Drake, it’s his first project since 2023’s For All The Dogs. The global rap star is gearing up to release his highly anticipated ninth album, Iceman.
