After clawing her way out of the jungle with Jaguar duology, Victoria Monét returns with “Let Me.”
On her first single in two years, Monét pleads to a romantic interest to take a chance on love. “Let me be your ride or die / Let me love you back to life,” she sings over a warm, silky backdrop.
Monét co-wrote “Let Me” with Tiyon “TC” Mack, alongside producers Camper, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, Branden “B Mack” Rowell” and Cashmere Brown.
Monét first previewed “Let Me” on Jan. 4, sharing a snippet of the track to her 2 million Instagram followers. Later that day, she posted photos of her outfit from the Los Angeles Clippers vs. Boston Celtics game that she attended the previous night. “‘Let Me,'” she wrote in the caption, punctuated by a brown heart and a music note emoji.
“Let Me” is the first single from Monét’s sophomore album that will arrive later this year via Lovett Music/RCA Records. The anticipated project, executive produced by Camper, will follow her Grammy-winning album Jaguar II (2023), which included her breakout hit “On My Mama.”
“This album that I’m working on right now is so, so R&B. Jaguar II was R&B, but it was set in the era of the ‘70s. This feels more like ‘90s R&B,” Monét told Angel Reese during an interview on the Unapologetically Angel podcast.
This summer, Monét will open for Bruno Mars’ The Romantic Tour across Europe and the U.K. Monét’s trek begins June 18 in Paris and continues through July 28 in London.
