For the first time in almost three years, H.E.R. starts at number-one on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart.
Selling 36,000 equivalent album units in the first week, the Oscar and Grammy-winning diva’s long-anticipated Back of My Mind debut arrives at the pole position. The set becomes her second project outside of 2018’s I Used to Know Her: The Prelude to command the top spot on this chart in its opening week.
H.E.R.’s 2017 self-titled project eventually ruled the Top R&B Albums chart in February 2019, following its Best R&B Album win at the 61st Grammy Awards.
Elsewhere, Back of My Mind made landfall at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. It gives the accomplished singer-songwriter her first top 10 on the big chart. The last outfit to impact this chart was The Prelude EP, which touched down at No. 20 in its first week.
Leading up to this recent news, H.E.R. performed “We Made It” at the 2021 BET Awards, where she won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Before that, the platinum-selling single “Damage” held first place on R&B radio and the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart.
H.E.R., who will guest on the new Recording Academy x Ebony: Black Music Collective Podcast next month, has shared the lineup for the second edition of her Lights On Festival.
Happening this September, the two-day event will feature performances from Erykah Badu, Bryson Tiller, Keyshia Cole, Ari Lennox, Tone Stith, and many more. H.E.R. will also take the stage with surprise guests. Find the full lineup and get tickets here.
