Don’t touch that dial. Kevin Ross’ new project, a sequel to his 2017 release, is a pleasurable listen for anyone to Drive 2.
Whether it be a short or long ride, Ross has a car-cruising jam on this 10-track set to turn on and let play without skips, just repeated spins. “Looking For Love,” the lead single from Drive 2, is a perfect example of this, considering it’s on the cusp of breaking inside the top ten on R&B radio.
Putting it into park when listening to “Same Team,” a reassuring one-way sign, is a smart move for a couple who unintentionally forgot they’re in this relationship together.
“Waverunner,” a flavorful collaborative track featuring Rotimi and Afro B, will have fellas speeding home in rush-hour traffic for a seasick bedroom experience.
Aside from his second early track, “Sweet Release,” Ross turns on his emergency flashers for the song “Ms. Communication.” Here, he can no longer stay calm or hold his tongue about the state of his relationship, hoping that his lady will keep up her end of the open dialogue bargain before it goes there.
Earlier this month, Ross helped remix Eric Roberson’s current single “Lessons” with Anthony Hamilton and Raheem DeVaughn. It arrived behind his live performance of “Looking For Love,” which he premiered on Rated R&B.
Ross is currently on tour supporting Drive 2.
