On the heels of his first-ever American Music Awards nomination, Tank has shared his new single, “I Deserve.”
Sampling his 2001 runaway hit “Maybe I Deserve,” Tank is on his hands and knees in an effort to win back his lady after his many wrongdoings. His plans to make good may be in vain, though, considering near the ending he’s mentioned the song’s protagonist is now engaged and introduced her new man to her parents. It’s a lesson in love for fellas to tighten up before they miss out on a good one.
Tank accompanied his new track with a hilarious, nostalgic video starring Adam Waheed and Juhahn Jones. Watch it below.
“I Deserve” follows Tank’s successful single “Can’t Let It Show.” The Kate Bush-sampled track soared to the top position on R&B radio and Billboard charts early this summer. It served as the lead single to his forthcoming tenth and final studio album, R&B Money, which is much teased and anticipated. It will be released on Feb. 4, 2022.
His previous album, Elevation, arrived in October 2019. Since then, he dropped two compact releases amid the pandemic: While You Wait and Worth the Wait.
As previously mentioned, Tank is up for Favorite Male R&B Artist at this year’s AMAs. He is competing against Usher, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and Givēon. The show airs on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
Additionally, in September, Tank’s first three studio albums were uploaded to streaming platforms for the first time via Blackground Records 2.0 and EMPIRE.
