Podcast host Rory is back with more new music featuring R&B luminaries. His latest track, “My Phone Can Die,” ropes in Ari Lennox and James Fauntleroy.

Held together by a smoky bass and subdued kick drum patterns, “My Phone Can Die” is an enraptured jam that radiates both expressions of tenderness and subtle sexual cues. Lennox and Fauntleroy sensually suggest togetherness overweigh battery life.

“My Phone Can Die” is the fifth and final single from Rory’s forthcoming debut album, I Thought It’d Be Different, set to release Friday, May 26.

Rory launched his debut era in July 2022 when he shared “I Want You But You’ll Never Know” featuring DRAM and Alex Isley. Three other singles followed, including “Not Me,” which united him with Shantel May and RAAHiiM, and “Don’t Go” with Pink Sweat$ and Sinéad Harnett.

Lennox recently wrapped the European leg of her age/sex/location tour. She previously toured North America to promote her sophomore album, age/sex/location, released in September 2022.

The album produced two hit singles, “Pressure” and “Waste My Time,” which rocketed to No. 1 on R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Solo music aside, Lennox collaborated with rising singer Alex Vaughn on “Demon Time (Remix).” Before that, she appeared twice on Creed III: The Soundtrack.

Lennox will resume performing duties to support age/sex/location with appearances at Roots Picnic and Blue Note Jazz Festival Napa Valley.

Last year, Fauntleroy worked behind the scenes and was featured on projects by Jacquees (Sincerely for You) and Calvin Harris (Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 2).

Fauntleroy last dropped solo material in 2021 when he debuted the songs “Recharge” and “Feel.” It was around that time he joined Snoh Aalegra for “On My Mind” and DJ Khaled for “Sorry Not Sorry” with Nas and JAY-Z.

More recently, Fauntleroy paired with Hit-Boy and C3 for “MTR.”
