It’s been five years since Calvin Harris released his star-studded album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. Now, the Scottish DJ is back with Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, available via Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited.
The 14-track album features a congregation of seasoned and young trailblazers, many of which are R&B-centric, such as Justin Timberlake, Normani, Tinashe, Pharrell Williams, 6LACK, Chlöe and Jorja Smith.
A handful singles were issued ahead of Harris unveiling Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, including “New To You,” which put Tinashe and Normani on the same track as rapper Offset. Then, there are unheard tracks that join other great talents together.
Against a sultry bassline, Smith seductively weaves through the Lil Durk-assisted “Somebody Else,” realizing that a disinterested lover has moved on without giving her proper notice. 6LACK and British artist Donae’o are swept off their feet by their respective women on the slick “Nothing More To Say.”
Chlöe gets extra saucy alongside two badass female rappers Stefflon Don and Coi Leray, on the boisterous “Woman Of The Year.”

In an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, Harris explained what inspired the direction of Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2.
“This album is for car journeys, and beaches and things like this,” Harris said. “What I was doing a lot was taking trips to the mountains. This is when I still lived in LA. Taking a trip out to this place called Idyllwild in the car, listening to a lot of psychedelic rock and then climbing the mountain, literally, and figuratively, and then heading back. So I was doing a lot of that, putting a lot of vinyl, getting to that kind of zone, you know?”
Other artists who made contributions to Harris’ most recent project include Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage, Dua Lipa, Young Thug, Busta Rhymes, Latto and many more.
