Musiq Soulchild will be performing at six City Winery locations nationwide this summer and fall.
Soulchild will begin his residency at City Winery St. Louis, performing on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. From there, he will perform at City Winery venues in Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Nashville.
He will conclude with a three-night performance at City Winery Philadelphia in December.
Soulchild will be supporting his most recent album, Victims & Villains, released in March. The 10-track album was produced in collaboration with Hit-Boy and serves as a follow-up to his Grammy-nominated double album, Feel the Real.
“I want them to have an open mind. I don’t want them to feel like it’s supposed to be this or that. You rob yourself of the experience when you do that. There’s enough on this project for a multitude of demographics to appreciate,” Soulchild told Rated R&B when asked what he wants fans to take away from Victims & Villains.
He continued, “I’m just trying to introduce the concept that some artists want to do more than what you know them for. I don’t mean that to say I’m doing a bunch of crazy sh*t on this project. I’m speaking from an aesthetic standpoint. This may not fit your concept of what traditional R&B may be. I don’t consider it R&B. I accept it if that’s what you want to call it, but I think it’s hip-hop soul. If you frame it in your mind as hip-hop soul while you’re listening, you will enjoy it more.”
Since Victims & Villains, Soulchild collaborated with Angie Stone on “The Gym” and with Destin Conrad on “To This Day” for Spotify Singles.
“I like the song. It’s very relatable. It’s about being candid and honest about your feelings for the one who got away. It’s admitting we ran out of tries,” Soulchild previously stated about his collaboration with Conrad.
