Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Mario Winans has achieved a new award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
His 2004 single “I Don’t Wanna Know,” featuring Enya and P. Diddy, has been certified platinum, selling over one million equivalent units. The Fugees-sampled track, which features Diddy and Enya, is Winans’ first platinum certification.

“I Don’t Wanna Know” was released as the first single from Winan’s sophomore album, Hurt No More. The emotional track reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it spent eight weeks in its peak position. In October 2004, “I Don’t Wanna Know” was certified gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies.
At the time of publication, “I Don’t Wanna Know” has a combined 654.6 million streams on Spotify. It’s worth noting that Hurt No More is not on Spotify or other streaming services at this time.
Released April 20, 2004, Hurt No More debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, led by Usher’s Confessions at the time. The Album included additional features from Slim of 112, Foxy Brown, Loon, and Black Rob. It was certified gold by July 2004.
In 2022, The Weeknd reimagined Winans’ “I Don’t Wanna Know” on “Creepin’,” a collaborative track with producer Metro Boomin and rapper 21 Savage from Boomin’s album Heroes & Villains. “Creepin'” peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart.
The Weeknd’s interpretation of “I Don’t Wanna Know” wasn’t as random and it may have seemed. Winans co-produced “After Hours,” from The Weeknd’s record-smashing album, After Hours, released in 2020.
