Renowned saxophonist Boney James has joined forces with rising vocalist October London for his new single “All I Want Is You.”
“It’s one of the most exciting vocal collaborations I’ve ever recorded,” says James.
The intimate track, co-produced by James and Jairus Mozee, runs smooth like a glass of wine on a date night.
Here, London professes his devotion to his woman. “You got me on fire with your love / And I can’t stop, nah baby / All I want is you,” he sings.
“All I Want Is You” is the first single from Boney James’ new album, Slow Burn, out Oct. 18 via Concord Records.
The 10-track set also features collaborations with Cory Henry, Marcus Miller, and Rick Braun.
“When I mentioned the phrase ‘slow burn’ to people as a possible title, they said, ‘That also refers to your whole career in a way,’” says James. “This is my nineteenth record and I feel like I’m just hitting my stride.”
Slow Burn is the follow-up to James’ 2022 album, Detour. The album included features from Lalah Hathaway (“Coastin”) and Dontae Winslow (“Bring It Back”).
“We’ve all been on a detour these last few years,” said James. “This album reflects how my music and I have been affected by the times we’re in.”
October London released his debut album, The Rebirth of Marvin, in 2023 via Death Row Records. The album included his breakout hit “Back To Your Place,” which spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
His latest single, “Mulholland Drive,” featuring Snoop Dogg and LaToiya Williams, is No. 3 on the chart.
The Rebirth of Marvin was highlighted on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums of 2023 list. “Perhaps the most compelling thing about The Rebirth of Marvin is the recurring theme of putting love and compassion back at the core of R&B,” wrote Anders Hare.
Following the release of his debut album, London contributed to The Color Purple soundtrack. In January, he embarked on his first headlining tour, The Rebirth of Marvin Tour.
Most recently, he appeared on NxWorries‘ new album Why Lawd? on “FromHere,” also featuring Snoop Dogg.
October London will join Maxwell on The Serenade Tour, which begins Sept. 14 in Hollywood, Florida. The tour concludes Oct. 27 at Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.
