Leon Bridges has made multiple top 10 appearances this week on Billboard with his latest studio album.

The Grammy winner’s fourth album, simply titled Leon, begins at No. 5 on the Top R&B Albums chart. This marks his sixth project, whether a solo release or collaborative effort, to start in the top 10 on this chart.

Gold-Diggers Sound, Bridges’s previous full-length album, debuted at No. 3 on this chart in July 2021. Following that, Bridges debuted at No. 4 with Texas Moon, his second EP recorded and performed alongside the trio Khruangbin.

Bridges achieved two back-to-back No. 1 albums on the same chart with Coming Home and Good Thing. The platinum-selling debut album, Coming Home, released in 2015, debuted at the top spot and maintained its position for one week.

Similarly, Good Thing, released in May 2018, also opened at No. 1 and held the position for a week. The latter album is certified gold by the RIAA.

Here’s a breakdown of Leon Bridges’ entries on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, listed by their peak positions.

  • Coming Home, No. 1 for one week (2015)
  • Good Thing, No. 1 for one week (2018)
  • Gold-Diggers Sound, No. 3 peak (2021)
  • Texas Moon EP with Khruangbin, No. 4 peak (2022)
  • Leon, No. 5 so far (2024)
  • Texas Sun EP with Khruangbin, No. 6 peak (2020)

Leon enters at No. 6 on both the Top Album Sales and Top Current Albums Sales chart. Coldplay’s brand new album, Moon Music, leads both charts.

Additionally, Leon debuts at No. 19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 58 on the Billboard 200.

Most notably, Bridges’ current album produces his third No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart. His song, “Peaceful Place,” also the lead single from Leon, rises to the summit.

Per Billboard, the Adult Alternative Airplay chart tallies “the week’s most popular songs ranked by Adult Alternative Radio Airplay detections, as measured by Mediabase and provided by Luminate.”

Bridges’ previous hits on this chart include “Smooth Sailin’” and “Bad Bad News.” The former song spent two weeks in the lead, while the latter, recently certified gold, stayed the longest, with five weeks.

The lower right corner contains the Columbia brand logo.

Released Oct. 4 on Columbia Records, Leon arrives three years after its predecessor, Gold-Diggers Sound. The new album includes the other single, “Laredo,” produced by Ian Fitchuk.

Regarding the album, Bridges previously shared, “It’s soulful music in the truest sense – it’s imbued with my soul. I’m excited to share these stories about my home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about where I’m from, with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey.”

Bridges is on The Leon Tour with special guest Hermanos Gutiérrez, ending on Nov. 15 in Fort Worth with special guest Charley Crockett. Tickets are available on his official website.
