The Weeknd‘s sixth album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, takes charge of the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1.

According to Billboard, the alt-R&B superstar’s album sold 490,500 equivalent units during its first week, marking his largest opening week. Of that total, 359,000 are from pure sales, and 130,500 are from streaming activity (Hurry Up Tomorrow garnered 171.5 million streams).

Hurry Up Tomorrow now marks the album with the largest opening week since Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. The latter album, released in April 2024, sold an impressive 2.61 million equivalent units in the first week.

Further, Hurry Up Tomorrow now tallies The Weeknd’s fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album, which is the final installment of his trilogy, is the second project to debut atop the popular albums chart.

The trilogy-launching After Hours (2020) also opened at No. 1, while its follow-up, Dawn FM, came close at No. 2.

Here is a breakdown of The Weeknd’s No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, ranked by first week sales:

  • Hurry Up Tomorrow, 490,500 units sold first week (2025)
  • After Hours, 440,000 units sold first week (2020)
  • Beauty Behind The Madness, 412,000 units sold first week (2015)
  • Starboy, 348,000 units sold first week (2016)
  • My Dear Melancholy – EP, 169,000 units sold first week (2018)

Elsewhere on Billboard, Hurry Up Tomorrow is No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums, Top Album Sales, and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

Outside of the U.S., Hurry Up Tomorrow is No. 1 in the U.K., France, Germany, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, and more.

Hurry Up Tomorrow was released Jan. 31 via XO/Republic Records. It was preceded by the Playboi Carti-assisted “Timeless,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta.

The album includes additional collaborations with Future, Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, Florence + The Machine, and a small cameo from XO Records artist Chxrry22, who appears on “Reflections Laughing.”

The singer, born Abel Tesfaye, will support his latest album on his After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour. The North American leg kicks off May 9 in Phoenix. Playboi Carti and Mike Dean will join him on the road as supporting acts.

On May 16, the movie Hurry Up Tomorrow will hit theaters. Tesfaye co-stars in the psychological thriller alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The upcoming flick was directed by Trey Edward Shults.

When asked if the movie’s intent is to end The Weeknd’s persona, Shults told Entertainment Weekly: “I tried to make the movie in a way where, for his fans and people who want to approach it at that level, I hope it’s very satisfying and you get a good meal out of it.

And for people that aren’t his fans and don’t know anything about him or even care about the final capping of The Weeknd, I think you still have a great movie to go through.”
