It turns out The Weeknd’s Dawn FM is a hot seller. The R&B-pop superstar’s new album and fifth overall has started at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 during the week of Jan. 22. The LP is now his eighth project to begin inside the top five on this chart.

Released with little notice, Dawn FM sold 148,000 in its first full sales week. The Weeknd’s opening week figures were mainly gained by 173 million on-demand streams, while 14,800 came from pure sales. Physical copies of the album were not available at the time of its release.

The Weeknd’s Dawn FM also made an impact on the Billboard Global 200 with 24 songs charting this week. It sets the records for the most entries by a solo male artist.

Elsewhere, Dawn FM also secured the top spot on the Billboard R&B Albums chart.

In addition, the first single, “Take My Breath,” returns to the Hot 100 (No. 22) after peaking at No. 6 during the week of Aug. 21, 2021.

Another chart moment, The Weeknd’s career compilation, The Highlights, rises two spots from last week to No. 6 on the Billboard 200. It originally finished at No. 2 back in February 2021.

Dawn FM (Alternate World), a deluxe edition, arrived days later and features three bonus tracks and contributions from Swedish House Mafia and Agents of Time.

Sometime this summer, The Weeknd is venturing out across the globe for his After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour in support of the new LP. Dates have not yet been announced.

The Weeknd currently appears on FKA twigs’ new mixtape Caprisongs. He’s also featured on Aaliyah’s posthumous single “Poison.”
