Production duo The Colleagues has released their new EP Love Language featuring October London.
The six-track offering, led by “Click Flash” and “Patience,” speaks to the mad passions of romance. “I don’t think it gets any better than this, you know? Bringing back that real R&B one song at a time,” London says in the mood-setting intro, punctuated by soft rain and rumbling thunder.
Rather than diving straight into business, London shows off his smooth charm on “Tell Me Your Name,” where he introduces himself to a woman who catches his eye in hopes of sparking a conversation. “Baby, all I want you to do is tell me your name / I promise I won’t forget,” he sings.
Although songs like “Patience” bring the allure of bedroom desire, it’s moments where he grapples with insecurity (“Over Think”) and pleads for forgiveness (“I Miss You”) that reveal London’s vulnerable side.
Speaking on Love Language, Karl “KP” Powell of The Colleagues tells Rated R&B, “First off, I am a huge fan of October London. This project came together very easily and quickly. The goal was to put out solid music with a more modern feel but gave you the feels of a song from the ’90s and 2000s. I didn’t have a theme but I did want him to be vulnerable and sing from a place of emotion. He trusted me musically, and that was the beauty of it.”
Love Language is a continuation of The Colleagues’ R&B-centered projects, dating back to 2019’s Another Love Story, followed by Love Dates and Heartbreaks (2020), What A Time To Be In Love with Raheem DeVaughn (2020) and Love Euphoria (2023).
As for London, the Death Row Records artist released his sophomore album, October Nights, in October 2024. The project included collaborations with Ledisi, Snoop Dogg and Boney James.
