September has been the month of returns for R&B artists like K. Michelle, Toni Braxton, Teairra Mari, and Xscape. Actor/singer Trevor Jackson looks to join in on the fun with his new single and video “B&W (Benz and My Wallet).”
Co-directed by Wyatt Stromer and Jackson himself, the video finds him homeless and begging for change after the girl he loves breaks his heart and robs him of his most prized possessions.
“There goes my love, and all my trust/Should’ve never gave it up/Now I’m sippin’ on a double cup/She was everything to me, my identity/Can’t believe she really got me/I was batman, didn’t know she was Robin,” he sings.
The bass-heavy cut is the first offering from his upcoming project, Rough Drafts, Pt. 1, which will be Jackson’s first dive back into music since early 2016.
As of late, Jackson had been focusing on his acting career, starring in the second season of the now-canceled ABC drama American Crime and the controversial Netflix film Burning Sands. He’ll also be a series regular alongside fellow R&B act Chloe x Halle in the Yara Shahidi-led blackish spin-off grownish, which airs this fall on Freeform.
