It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas — even in October. PJ Morton continues to drum up holiday cheer with his cover version of Mariah Carey’s original festive score “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
Backed by live instruments, grooves and soulful vibes, Morton invites Stokley to add his astounding vocals to the Yuletide carol.
Morton’s funky take on Carey’s joyous classic will be featured on his first-ever holiday album, Christmas with PJ, due out on November 9 via Motown Records. The merry collection of eight songs, which incorporates the sounds of bounce, reggae, and full orchestras, will include traditional favorites like “This Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and “Give Love On.” He gets in the creative bag for two original recordings — “Do You Believe” featuring Yolanda Adams and “Peyton’s Lullaby (Right Away).”
Right now, Morton is overseas on his More Gumbo Tour. He will return to the states on November 11 and perform across the nation in 19-major cities with special guest Grace Weber.
Morton mentioned all songs from Christmas with PJ “are fair game on this tour.”
