DreamWorks’ Trolls is officially getting a sequel with Mary J. Blige, Anderson .Paak and George Clinton now part of the cast.
According to the film synopsis, Trolls World Tour, directed by Walt Dohrn, will follow Queen Poppy (Anna Kendrick), Branch (Justin Timberlake) and their band of friends as they embark on an epic quest to bring harmony to fellow feuding trolls that specialize in different genres of music.
Blige, who is a history-making Oscar nominee, will portray Queen Essence, while the master of funk Clinton takes on King Quincy and .Paak plays Prince D.
Ester Dean, Kelly Clarkson, Ozzy Osbourne, James Corden, J Balvin, Anthony Ramos, and more are tapped for the animated comedy set to hit theaters on April 17, 2020.
Trolls World Tour will feature all-new original music curated by Timberlake, who contributed the Oscar-nominated hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling” to the 2016 film.
As for Blige, she is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday, June 23. She is preparing to release a mysterious project soon, as well as gearing up her Essence Music Festival performance and co-headlining Royalty Tour with Nas in July.
.Paak, who dropped his star-studded Ventura album this spring, will be wrapping up his Best Teef in the Game next week. Shortly after, he takes his incredible act to the festival circuit with the first stop at the Forecastle Festival on July 13. .Paak will also play at the Outside Lands Festival in August and the Made in America Festival on Labor Day weekend.
