SiR has released his third album, Chasing Summer, via Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records. Please take your seat, fasten your seatbelt and prepare for a 46-minute flight full of lush sounds.
The Inglewood native doesn’t travel alone, though. The album features guest appearances from Jill Scott (“Still Blue”), Sabrina Claudio (“That’s Why I Love You”), Zacari (“Mood”), Kadhja Bonet (“New Sky”), Lil Wayne (“Lucy’s Love”), Smino (“LA Lisa”) and Kendrick Lamar (“Hair Down”). The latter track served as the lead single for the album.
“I wrote that on the road we were on The Championship Tour,” SiR told Nick Cannon of Power 106’s Nick Cannon Mornings.
“I just wanted something that fans could feel confident when they sang it. I definitely feel like that translated so well, and getting [Kendrick] on it was a no brainer. People ask me like ‘When did you decide that you wanted Dot on it?’ I definitely knew in the back of my head that it would be crazy to have him on there but I don’t ask anything of him.”
Chasing Summer is the follow-up to SiR’s second album, November, which dropped in January 2018. In 2015, he released his debut album, Seven Sundays, independently via Fresh Selects.
