John Legend is tired of putting his faith in sensitive lyrics to satisfy his lover.
Fronted by the dramatic instrumental of David Axelrod and David McCallum’s timeless “The Edge,” Legend is now letting his “Actions” do the talking since his charming words can no longer unlock the door to his woman’s heart.
He also uses lyric interpolation from Dr. Dre’s classic “The Next Episode,” which also takes an instrumentation cue from the Axelrod and McCallum hit.
“Actions” is the second offering from Legend’s untitled Darkness and Light follow-up.
The EGOT musician released “Conversations in the Dark” as the lead single back in January. The tear-jerker is currently in the top 20 on the urban adult contemporary radio chart.
Starting on August 12, Legend is set to hit the road for The Bigger Love Tour in support of his forthcoming album. There is still no word if his first headlining tour since 2018 has been pushed back or canceled due to the global coronavirus outbreak.
