The cherry on top for this New Music Friday has to be the much anticipated arrival of Ro James’ sophomore album Mantic.
The unabashedly romantic album is the follow-up to the songster’s 2016 debut LP, ELDORADO. It also follows the interim Smoke EP, which he released in spring 2018.
For true R&B loyalists, Mantic is an immediately appealing project that finds James sounding more intimate and assured than he’s ever before. Outside the already-released songs, other tracks of interest include the dripping “Rain” and the soothing “Slow Down” featuring jazz maestro Masgeo.
Brandy and Miguel also make an appearance on Mantic, a soul-stirrer from start to finish.
