With two days until her official full-length project Heaux Tales makes its digital drop (out Jan. 8), Jazmine Sullivan reveals the official track list. The 14-track release includes the saucy kiss-off “Pick Up Your Feelings” and the lead track “Lost One.” It features appearances from Ari Lennox, Anderson .Paak and H.E.R.
Sullivan shared a new song, “Girl Like Me,” which features the latter Grammy-winning musician. Produced by Bongo ByTheWay, the acoustic track finds Sullivan and H.E.R. feeling like they need to give in to women’s various lifestyles that their exes have been chasing.
Heaux Tales is the first collection of music from Sullivan since 2015’s Reality Show. The Grammy-nominated album was regarded as one of Rated R&B’s 50 best R&B albums of the 2010s.
“I wrote Heaux Tales to give voice to every woman,” Sullivan explained. “We’re deserving of respect whether we as a C.E.O. of a company or if we strippin. It’s about unity. It’s about boldness. It’s about ownership and confidence and also vulnerability and self-reflection.”
“It’s about a woman deciding how she wants to present herself to the world and not being told or influenced by anyone but her gotdamn self. It’s about women writing their own imperfect stories unashamed.”
