Beyoncé and K. Michelle are living proof that R&B is not dead. The two R&B singers are among the biggest selling female debuts on the Billboard 200 for 2016.
Beyoncé’s critically-acclaimed album, Lemonade, leads the pack at No. 1 with 653,000 total units. It was released on April 23 and is now certified platinum. Furthermore, the album scored four Emmy nominations.
Meanwhile, K. Michelle’s third studio album More Issues Than Vogue arrives at No. 9 with 59,000 total units. The album was released on March 26 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
It’s important to note that these are the only R&B albums on the list.
