The new album may not be quite finished yet, but Normani has something that will hold us over until then. Her new joint single with Sam Smith called “Dancing With A Stranger” is out now — and the two collaborators are a pleasantly unexpected match.
The pair happened to be working next door to each other in the same Los Angeles studio when Sam invited her to join him on this suave and silky late-80’s R&B inspired track.
Normani explained, “I’m truly blessed having the opportunity to create with one of the greatest vocalists of this decade. I think about the artists that I frequently listen to daily and Sam Smith has definitely been one of them for some time now. I never thought in a trillion years that I would be able to state that I have a record with this extremely gifted being. I’m super proud to share this song with Sam and cannot wait for the rest of the world to experience it – from the first moment that I heard the song I knew how special it was. I’m deeply in love with this body of work and I hope that you all will be too.”
In her recent Billboard cover story, she’s hoping to release her album in the second half of this year. She also mentioned that she has worked with Daniel Caesar and is in talks of getting in the studio with Missy Elliott.
In March, Normani will be touring alongside Ariana Grande for her Sweetener World Tour. She is likely to perform her string of songs that were released in 2018, including “Waves,” “Checklist” and “Slow Down.”
