Valentine’s Day just got more harmonious. After teasing fans with a recent recording session, PJ Morton and JoJo unleash an amorous duet titled “Say So.”
The magical collaboration begins with colorful notes that serve as a route for Morton and JoJo’s sweet-sounding intones. As their warm hums feed the backdrop, JoJo mulls over the idea of her going in deep for someone special. Though she’s committed to being a part of a love story, she needs to know if he feels the same. The warmth of Morton’s cadences has a profound effect on making this narrative more authentic.
“Say So” comes off heels of Morton’s first Grammy win. The brilliant musician won Best Traditional R&B Performance for his live rendition of “How Deep Is Your Love” featuring Yebba. Ahead of the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, Morton made Best R&B Album history for his Gumbo Unplugged (Live) work. He became the first artist in the 24-year history of this album category to have a live and studio album of the same material nominated. The original album received a nod in 2018.
In JoJo-related news, the singer is working on her follow-up to 2016’s Mad Love. She’s been seen in studio sessions with Bryan Michael-Cox and Jermaine Dupri. The hip-hop inspired album is expected to “as raw as possible.”
