As the summertime draws near, anticipation for annual block parties intensifies. Live Nation Urban has announced the lineup for their fifth annual Summer Block Party concert series and it’s nothing short of amazing.
Jill Scott will headline the festival for all four dates. The festival will make its first stop on June 30 in her home state of Philadelphia, with special guests and fellow natives Jazmine Sullivan and Musiq Soulchild. From there, the Summer Block Party will touch down in other major cities, including Dallas for the first time, and Houston, before ending on July 13 in Chicago.
The soul songstress will be joined on select dates by more of R&B’s best and brightest stars, including Boyz II Men, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, Carl Thomas, Tweet, and Lucky Daye.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 5 on Ticketmaster.
As Scott silently plots her return to music after a four-year hiatus, she will headline the Brooklyn leg of the Afropunk Festival in August.
She also will make an appearance on the small screen in the television remake of 1996 revenge comedy film, First Wives Club. The reboot is slated to premiere on BET later this year.
