After weeks of teasing their fans with their epic collaboration, SZA and DJ Khaled have released their anticipated single “Just Us.”
Lifted from the hitmaker’s new album, Father of Asahd, the song samples Outkast’s psychedelic funk groove “Ms. Jackson” and features SZA belting true-hearted lyrics about a picturesque love with her man.
“It’s just us against the world, in this life of sin / Ain’t nobody gonna take us out, it’s always us, it’s never them / It’s just us against the world, when the smoke clears / All we got is all we got, it’s always us, it’s never them,” she sings on the chorus.
SZA and DJ Khaled sealed the new music with a corresponding video. In the Roman battle-style video, SZA goes up against an army of soldiers, showing off her Xena: Warrior Princess fight moves. Khaled gets in on the action, too.
Earlier this month, SZA, who is working on her new album, released an official video for “Power is Power” featuring The Weekend and Travis Scott. The track appears on the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones soundtrack, For the Throne.
On June 2, SZA is set to perform on night-three of the 2019 Governors Ball Music Festival.
