Jhené Aiko is locked and loaded. The contemporary songster cleanses herself from a lasting pain on her epic new poem “Triggered (Freestyle).”
The slow-burning tale narrates the scorned feelings that have Aiko bound to heartache and revenge. She conflicts her emotions, though. In one breath she tells him that she’s “trying hard not to disrespect him.” Meanwhile, she sings, “When I get mad, I get big mad” and that he’ll “feel the wrath of a menace” moments later.
Aiko accompanied her new music with a music video that finds her singing her heart out on the top of a hill.
Similar to her “Wasted Love Freestyle,” Aiko’s latest free-flowing record addresses life after her ex-boyfriend Big Sean. She mentioned under the comments of an Instagram post that the follow up to 2017’s Trip will consist of all freestyles.
“My next album is all freestyles where I touch on many subjects and relationships… past, present and future,” she told a Shade Room commentator.
She continued, “I know you all love the drama and would like to think everything I do or say is about him, but I’ve been through plenty of other things and situations that I pull inspiration from when I sit down to create a song. have a good day.”
