Leah Jenea steps away from her YouTube acoustic sessions and releases a video for her Leah Sings Nina single “Gold Ring.”
The Jay Rodriguez-directed video starts with Jenea strutting her goods in a gilded look around a room of living mannequins. The Four alum floats through other frames that keep the focus on her gold jewelry, and her majestic vocals and raps.
“Gold Ring” is the second offering from Jenea’s Nina Simone tribute EP to receive video treatment. She previously dropped a visual for “Stick to the Promises” in fall of 2018.
“Every record on the EP embodies strength and realism,” Jenea told Rated R&B about her new project. “Nina Simone definitely went through hardships to become who she is and songs like “Doin Dishes” that speak about the struggle of trying to succeed and being pushed back by troubles at the same time. I fought to keep her story alive, while also keeping the new age sound and feel.”
