The Carters are now a platinum-selling duo. “APESHIT,” the lead single from their joint album Everything is Love, has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with over one million units sold. The Pharrell co-produced trap record went gold on the same date.
At the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in February, The Carters won a Best Urban Contemporary Album for Everything is Love, which was released by surprise last year June. The album went gold less than a month before the annual award ceremony.
In others Carters news, the duo is competing in three categories at the 2019 BET Awards, including Best Group, Video of the Year (“APESHIT”), and Album of the Year (Everything is Love). Beyoncé, who will star as Nala in the Disney live-action remake of Lion King this summer, also scored a solo nomination for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
Her re-imagined version of Maze and Frankie Beverly’s “Before I Let Go” recently became her first top 10 R&B single in five years on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart.
