2019 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees Announced (R&B Edition)

in News

The nominations have been revealed for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. Solange, H.E.R., FKA twigs, and Anderson .Paak claim the title for as the most-nominated R&B/soul acts with three nominations.

Lizzo and John Legend are neck and neck with two nods a piece, while Khalid, Normani, and Ella Mai each grabbed a nomination for their respective singles.

Interestingly, and very much-appreciated, after a 10-year hiatus, the Best R&B Video category has been revived. The reintroduction of the category comes nearly a year after we reported in our thought-provoking editorial the lack of diversity and inclusion of R&B artists at the 35th edition of the award ceremony.

The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on August 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
