H.E.R. may have celebrated her 22nd birthday last month but she’s still living out her days as a “21” year old.
On the unreleased coming-of-age record, the Grammy winner speaks on the many highs and lows that she experienced while on her road to stardom. She goes back and forth from singing to spoken word to express the mix of emotions on the introspective recording.
H.E.R. gives “21” visual representation with an official video that not only highlights her greatest accomplishments from that year but paints a picture the song couldn’t illustrate alone on wax.
Going back to last month, H.E.R. had a lot going on. She hit the 2019 BET Awards stage with YBN Cordae and released “Racks” with him soon after. Prior to that, she announced her inaugural self-curated music festival, which is happening this September.
Beyond her own festival, H.E.R. will be headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival. Alicia Keys is also on the bill for the eighth edition of the concert series.
In addition to making her rounds on the performance front, the two-time 2019 MTV Video Music Awards nominee is readying her much-anticipated debut album. She’s been in the studio with hitmakers Sean Garrett, DJ Camper, Luke Witherspoon III, and most recently, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
