Mahalia is not your average girl. On her new summertime thrill titled “Simmer,” the soul singer and songwriter smoothly tells her dude to chill out with the agitating antics because he “makes it too hard” for her to stick around.
Dancehall maverick Burna Boy, who aids Mahalia on this Afro-Centric track, can cut the tension between him and his lover with a knife. “You nuh cook no dinner when I come back / Somethin’ wrong with ya, come from that.”
“Simmer” is one of 13 tracks from her official debut album, Love and Compromise, which will be released on September 6 via Warner Music UK Limited.
At the 2019 Glastonbury Festival, she performed her kiss-off anthem “I Wish I Missed My Ex” off her forthcoming album. Styled in an all-white look, Mahalia worked all ends of the stage as she delivered the extremely cold lyrics to her breakout hit.
Fans can see more of Mahalia when she launches her world tour on September 22 in Detroit. She has invited Jvck James as her special guest for the headlining tour.
