If you dare BJ The Chicago Kid to stir up vintage soul vibes, he’ll do it without a second thought. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter hit the COLORS studio to pop a live rendition of “Champagne.”
Dressed in dapper streetwear, BJ intoxicated the cream-colored soundstage with his expressive vocals and feel-good energy. He truly makes performing live look easy.
“Champagne” is taken from his latest album 1123, which is available everywhere. Noted as BJ’s second major-label LP, it features the previously released singles “Reach,” “Worryn’ Bout Me” featuring Offset, and “Time Today.”
“I hope they take another evolution of BJ back, another layer of who I am, another layer of what I do,” said BJ to Rated R&B about what he wants fans to take away from 1123. “I take it very seriously. Every producer that I’ve worked with takes it very seriously as well, so together we come collectively to make sure that you guys love what you hear.”
On September 21, BJ is embarking on a North American tour to support his new album. The first stop is in Vancouver, British Columbia. Tickets are available here.
