One angelic singer once said, “If at first you don’t succeed dust yourself off, and try again.” Well, Mahalia isn’t interested starting over on her latest single “Square 1.”
Over an eloquent piano arrangement, Mahalia harps on the fact her emotionless man has kept her heart hanging on a thread only to walk out her life. Even behind her sweet inflections there is a pain that can still be heard.
“Square 1” is the fourth offering from Mahalia’s official debut album Love and Compromise, which is due out September 6 via Warner Music UK Limited. The upcoming release will feature singles “Simmer,” “Do Not Disturb,” and “I Wished I Missed My Ex.”
Mahalia will perform the new material on her tour named after the album. The world tour, which includes Jvck James as special guest, kicks off on September 22 in Detroit. Additional dates can be found here.
