Mahalia is doing everything right this era. Two weeks after premiering her blazing Burna Boy collaboration “Simmer,” the soul-rooted goddess teams with director KC Locke to bring the song to life.
The overall atmosphere of the visual is hazy and filled with lush tones of crimson lighting that are hard to escape. It appears Mahalia is trying to cool in a number of the red-hot scenes. She gets a chance to defrost when she links up with Burna Boy in an ambiguous location.
“Simmer” is lifted from Mahalia’s forthcoming debut album Love and Compromise. The LP is slated to arrive on September 6 and will also include her heartless single “I Wish I Missed My Ex.” She performed the latter track at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival in June.
This fall, Mahalia will hit the road with special guest Jvck James to support her new album. The world tour will kick off on September 22 in Detroit.
