Dreams do come true and for Mereba, the opportunity came full circle. Even though her first appearance was as backup, she returns to the NPR offices for her own Tiny Desk episode.
Drapped in a satin fuchsia two piece, Mereba opened her set with “Black Truck.” Her four-piece band added a sense of intimacy for the stripped down performance. She showcases her artistry as she played the keyboard along with her performance for “Stay Tru.”
Mereba then transitions to her poem “Dodging The Devil,” where she shares that it was written at a time where things “just felt like nothing was going right.” She closes the performance with her folk-inspired song “Kinfolk.”
All song selections were from her debut album The Jungle is the Only Way Out, released in March.
The Atlanta-based musician received her first Grammy nomination this year for her contribution on the Dreamville compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III.
