Are we getting “Closer” to a new Mario album? The R&B veteran’s new single is a pretty strong indicator.
Employing a knocking bassline, the Baltimore native utilizes this bedroom-ready jam to tell his woman that he wants to have a meeting in the sheets.
Even though the crooner is known for his breathtaking falsetto, he shifts vocal gears like a five-speed sports car throughout the erotic tune. Still, he teases his range towards the end.
“I think me and you should skip the foreplay / Baby, I’ve been waiting on you all day / Honestly, I think we had enough space, girl,” he coos.
“Closer” is seemingly the first glimpse of new sounds from Mario since 2018’s Dancing Shadows. In between his fifth album, he’s released a video for “Care for You” and a 20th anniversary edition of his big hit “Let Me Love You.”
Mario also starred in FOX’s live musical Rent in 2018 and joined B2K for their nostalgic reunion tour last year.
