You’re wasting water intriguing on your neighbors, Kehlani.
As she peeks over a cemented fence in her cheeky album art, the flower-child of R&B announces the title and release date for the follow-up to SweetSexySavage.
It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, Kehlani’s eagerly-anticipated sophomore album, is set to arrive on May 8 via TSNMI?Atlantic Records. At this time, there are no confirmed details on the official tracklisting.
Kehlani has released a string of tracks over the past few months, including the candidly-somber “Everybody Business,” the draining “Toxic,” the Keyshia Cole-assisted “All Me” and “You Know Wassup,” to name a few.
She previously teased that she had a release date in March but chose to delay it as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“To be transparent, I had a release date,” she wrote in her post. “We’re unable to complete any of our plans or move forward with the album at the moment due to the pandemic. Not thinking about music at the moment, focused on how to just be a good citizen to society at this time.”
Speaking on the album artwork, Kehlani said in a press statement, “The album cover is a depiction of never-ending duality of ‘good’ and ‘bad’. It’s a tale of perspective.”
She continued, “The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but clearly something has gotten my attention. Paired with the back cover, we come into the question of is the grass really greener on the other side? Good things are good…until they aren’t. Then, were they ever really good?”
Now with a change of heart, Kehlani is ready to deliver one of the most talked-about projects of 2020.
It Was Good Until It Wasn’t is the first release since 2019’s exceptional While We Wait mixtape.
