Parisalexa sets the record straight on her new song “Slimthick”: She’s homegrown and her haters will have to deal.
On her self-acceptance anthem, the budding singer shuts down the image-perfecting ideas of social media, in hopes to encourage other young women to not let those selfies online chip away at their self-esteem.
“When I was growing up I didn’t have a lot of women around me who were shaped like me. I had to learn to be confident in what I looked like by myself,” Parisalexa said in a press statement about the single.
She continued, “Since I found that confidence I’ve made it my mission, not only to hold onto it but to spread it to other girls who may need the boost just like I did. The truth is we only get one body, and every stretch mark is a sign of growth that should be celebrated! Whether you’re slim or thick, you’re a real bad b*tch. Don’t forget that!”
“Slimthick” is the latest release from her debut album, 2 Real, which is slated for release on May 8.
Co-executive produced by Elan Wright, the 10-track project will include her previously released songs: “Chocolate,” “Troubled Waters,” and the title track.
