If there’s one person who puts on for their city, it’s 6LACK. The Grammy-nominated artist reps for his hometown on his new track “ATL Freestyle.”
Having a unique mastery for putting his fans in the mind of an Atlanta native, 6LACK provides street poetry on how he hasn’t changed since gaining fame.
The somber acoustic-rooted record puts emphasis on his come up story and contains a touchable effect. The Baltimore-born artist recaps the fun times when he ate hot wings and played Gucci Mane. He also shares those moments of grinding that he can smile on today.
“Clearly got me fucked up / Takin’ out the trash on yo’ ass / I get rid of bad friends like a dump truck / Everything I been through is everything I am / What the fuck you think this is? Think I lucked up? / Still down to Earth, never stuck up,” he sing-raps on the chorus.
To bring life to the love letter for his hometown of Atlanta, 6LACK releases a JMP-directed to accompany it. Watch the video above.
“ATL Freestyle” is the latest offering from 6LACK this year. The occasional singer-rapper is working on dropping new music later this summer.
As he perfects his new sounds, 6LACK appears on some of our favorite recently-released tracks: “Not Too Deep” (India Shawn) and “Morocco” (Alina Baraz).
