The pair’s musician Dante Jones gives the production a hazy and dreamier makeover, allowing the triple threat to flaunt her bad girl attitude with more pizzazz.
Listening beyond the upgraded arrangement, die-hard fans will hear the woozy tones of THEY.’s vocalist Drew Love in the background.
The original version of “Hopscotch” is taken from Tinashe’s Songs for You, which was released last year. The LP made Rated R&B’s year-end list of 30 Best R&B Albums of 2019.
The indie star recently celebrated 50 million streams of Songs For You on Spotify, calling the win “pretty fucking incredible” on Instagram.
