Since the release of her first single in April, Ledisi has seen and raised fans with the artistic maturation of her new music. On her new album The Wild Card, the follow-up to 2017’s Let Love Rule, she proves that she’s been playing her cards right all along.
As usual, Ledisi delivers another ruminative album that explores the ups and downs of love, with a greater emphasis on emotional upheavals this time around.
On the organ-heavy “Next Time,” the Grammy-nominated singer is all out of the second chances. Even when though she’s tired of going through the motions, she can’t seem to let the relationship go on the soul-soaked “Same Love.”
Ledisi also brushes on the sense of purpose on songs like “Wake Up” featuring Sa-Roc and the deftly arranged “In It To Win.”
The Wild Card is also bolstered by the previously-released tracks “Where I Am,” and the warm-hearted “Anything For You.”
