PJ Morton is no stranger to gospel, especially since his father Bishop Paul S. Morton is an acclaimed figure in the influential genre.
The Grammy winner is sure to make his father proud when he releases his very-first gospel album, Gospel According to PJ, on August 28. His first project since this year’s The Piano Album has the same release date as albums from Toni Braxton, Kem, Ledisi, and 112.
Morton shared the news about the forthcoming album with his dad in a sweet phone call. You can listen to the conversation in the artsy clip below.
Gospel According to PJ will be a 13-track album, featuring appearances from the genre’s most respected artists like The Clark Sisters, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Kim Burrell, Commissioned, and many more.
Two songs “All in His Plan” with Leandria and Mary Mary and “So in Love” featuring Darrel Musiqcity Walls and Zacardi Cortez will be instantly available when the album arrives on digital platforms for pre-order and pre-save tonight at midnight.
As you wait for those new sounds, listen to Morton’s harmonize with Ledisi on her latest single “Anything for You.” You can also watch his new video for “Buy Back the Block.”
