Congratulations are in order for Top Dawg Entertainment star SiR. The R&B crooner just earned his first gold certification from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his 2019 hit “Hair Down” featuring Kendrick Lamar, with over 500,000 units sold.
The Inglewood native took to Twitter to announce the heartwarming news, saying “My first Plaque. Thank you @dangerookipawaa.”
The woozy R&B track is lifted from SiR’s sophomore album Chasing Summer, which was released in 2019. The LP received critical and commercial acclaim upon its debut, scorching the Billboard’s Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums Chart and landing on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2019 list. The album also includes his fan-favorite smash “John Redcorn.”
SiR recently covered The Isley Brothers classic “Footsteps In The Dark,” as part of Top Dawg Entertainment’s multimedia “Black Sounds Beautiful” campaign.
