Last year, when Miguel released “Funeral,” the first track from his promised EP of the same title, the Grammy winner had fans losing their minds for a follow-up to his Spanish-language EP Te Lo Dije. In between that time, he claimed an Adult R&B number one hit (“Show Love” with Alicia Keys) and appeared on Ro James’ anticipated sophomore album Mantic.
Now, Miguel has switched gears back to his own solo work, finally releasing the visual for “Funeral.” It remains the first offering for his upcoming project, but instead of being titled after the song, it will be worked as the leadoff to the reinstatement of his 2012 Art Dealer Chic EP series. The new EP is due sometime soon via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records.
In the artsy video, directed by Philippa Price and Nina McNeely, Miguel portrays a spiritual figure on the brink of death. Before he is buried alive, dance eulogy is performed by a flock of believers. Watch it above.
Back in June, Rated R&B celebrated the fifth anniversary of Miguel’s Wildheart with 10 of his most underrated songs. Revisit it here.
