Remember the short-lived show Cleopatra 2525? If not, Chloe x Halle gives the sci-fi series a fantastic reboot in the supporting video for the title track to their sophomore album Ungodly Hour.
The ultramodern video keeps in line with the futuristic theme of previous visuals and performances from this era, including their power-activated clip for “Forgive Me” and their space-age MTV Video Music Awards pre-show segment.
The music video for “Ungodly Hour” follows the sister duo’s NPR Tiny Desk debut from December 2020. A month earlier, the pair released a cover of Zhané’s “Sending My Love” for Spotify Singles.
At the 2021 Grammys, gold is on the line for Chloe x Halle in three different categories: Best Progressive R&B Album (Ungodly Hour), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Wonder What She Thinks of Me”), and Best R&B Song (“Do It.”).
Described as “extremely enjoyable” and an “invigorating” body of work, Ungodly Hour was named the third-best R&B album of 2020 by Rated R&B. Read the full year-end review here.
