Jacob Banks Throws an Empowering ‘Parade’ on New Song

Co-written and produced by Sillkey.

Jacob Banks proves that he is invincible to the rain of defeat on his brand new single “Parade.” It arrives with a music video that can be watched above.

Marching in with his chest stuck out and his voice full of an empowered soul, Banks uses the messaging of the Sillkey-helmed record to stand his ground and power through challenging situations. The horns noted in the song’s production evoke the spirit of New Orleans, while the wild guitar roars will send chills down your spine.

Banks was moved to write “Parade” after attending a protest in the U.K. “I hoped to experience a sense of pride or whatever, but I didn’t experience any of that. I felt defeated by the fact we still have to do this after all of these years. We’re all risking our lives with the pandemic out there. However, it turned around in my head. No matter how hard it gets for the oppressed, civilization still doesn’t move without our consent,” he shared in a press statement.

He continued, “It was fascinating to me. I found power in it. Society requires those who stand up on the frontline and march. It needs all of the marginalized and disenfranchised groups, so get on board or get used to it.”

“Parade” marks Banks’ first new single of 2021. He released the climatic ode “Devil That I Know”, as well as the Sillkey-produced cut “Stranger” last fall. Months prior, Banks shared a stirring rendition of Alicia Keys’ hit single “Like You’ll Never See Me Again.”

Banks last album was 2018’s Village. It was one of Rated R&B’s top 25 R&B albums of that same year.
