Jennifer Hudson’s grand voice is priceless. That’s exactly why Mastercard recruited the powerhouse to render the theme song for their Strivers Initiative, which is dedicated to supporting and empowering Black women-owned businesses that have managed to thrive despite the daunting challenges of the pandemic.
In the spirit of these Black women bosses, Hudson helps amplify their success with a fitting and bold remake of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” which was written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson.
The revamped track was produced by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and finds Hudson cutting loose with some serious soul singing over a tailor-made dance arrangement.
Speaking on the collaboration with Mastercard, Hudson said, “I am fortunate to have been influenced and inspired by so many incredible Black female role models as I’ve pursued my dreams, but that’s not always the case for all Black girls and women.
Entrepreneurship has always been a part of the American Dream, and the work that Mastercard is doing to elevate these visible, strong Black women business owners and highlight the support they’re providing our communities is hugely important to me and to the impact of future generations.”
