Just months after releasing the deluxe edition of his Twenties project, Bren Joy is back with a new song titled “Headline.”
The song’s production has an antiquated beat filled with smooth drumming, horns, and hi-hats that perfectly fit the melodic singer’s voice. Lyrically, Joy sings about having such vigorous lovemaking with his lady love that it makes the front page.
“This scent of you is stuck on me / It lingers from our last goodbye / I’m counting every moment passing by till I can get inside,” coos Joy in the first verse.
With the new song comes an accompanying video. It shows Joy and a group of friends on a long car ride through a desert. On the journey, he buries the suitcase he brought along with him. Watch the video above to find out what all was buried.
“Headline” is the latest offering from Joy following the Nashville live version of “Insecure.” The original edition features Pink Sweat$. Speaking of Sweat$, Joy will join him later this year on his The Pink Moon Tour. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
Back in May, Joy was crowned one of Rated R&B’s Front + Center artists. In the interview, the rising singer chronicled his journey as a musician and broke down his Twenty (Deluxe) project. He also spoke about how he doesn’t pigeonhole himself into the genre of R&B.
“If you asked me a year or two ago, I’d say yes. If you ask me today, I would say I am an artist that is heavily inspired by art. Everything is going to have a sense of R&B. But I think that puts a hold on things that can be much bigger,” he shared.
