R&B newcomer Bren Joy gives us a new chapter in the diary of his ’20s. After almost two years since the original release, the Nashville native issues the deluxe version of his debut project, Twenties.
The deluxe edition features seven new songs that showcase a new side of the singer. Bringing the project to 15 songs and a run time of 51 minutes, the new add-ons to Twenties include features from Pink Sweat$ and Mae Muller that compliment the original project’s overall reverence.
Joy highlights a few new woes he’s been facing since he’s entered his ’20s, from wanting his insecurities to be soothed by a woman (“Insecurities”) to being at the point where he just doesn’t care about anything at all (“IDGAF”).
Joy hypes up and applauds his partner for being beautiful no matter the time with the single “Fiji Fine.” Then, on “Lil Rich,” Joy details hating being broke and wanting to be rich just enough to be spoiled but not changed.
On “Multiply,” Joy adds a gospel approach to the song, speaking of people laying down their struggles to God and believing that he will make a way.
This year, Joy was dubbed one of Rated R&B’s 11 R&B Artists to Watch in 2021.
